This is Begüm. She's a yogi and health evangelist from Istanbul, Turkey. She's also a material scientist with an extensive experience from running production processes. Recently as a Senior Process Engineer at Northvolt and now fully focused on leading our great team at the pilot plant at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Silicon production emits 105 million tonnes CO₂ per year, almost a third of the UK’s total emissions. We want to change that. Almost all silicon is extracted using an outdated method, involving enormous amounts of coal. With our technology, green hydrogen is used to replace coal as a necessary additive for the extraction process, drastically reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
